I read about blocks disappearing in the past, but never had anything like happening to me. Till recent. Don't have a clue what I did and if I did it at all.

But it happens on all my sites and testsites, for example:
- http://euphony.ekpc.nl ... no left blocks :S
- http://www.sffpc.nl ... only left blocks in "home"
- http://ernst.kasteleijn.nl ... no left blocks
- http://jdi.ekpc.nl ... no blocks at all
all sites are hosted on same server.

when I'm browsing blocks in backend nothing turns up either.

So I guess this is a typical DB problem and the blocks I'm seeing are still cached?
I am able to browse my databases with phpmyadmin though. What table administers the blocks?

How can this happen and how do I solve it? If it's hoster related, what can it be?

I'm running XOOPS 2.0.9.2 and phpdebug shows nothing out of the ordinary.

has your host upgraded MySQL recently?

but on looking, some have blocks some don't.. have you updated the sites?

goto admin in every site and check group access.. check if those blocks are accessible to the groups u want.. also check then in blocks section and edit the blocks and select what pages they should be visible on..

if u can't login thru the login block use http://yourdomain.com/user.php

use admin.php for admin once ur logged in..

Dunno about my host. They don't have fast mail respons.

Nothing wrong with group access, all the block and their rights are still there. But when I go to block access all blocks are gone.

I updated system module twice already. Changed nothing

can you explain more about that MySQL temp problem? Is it something I have influence on?

ok, my hoster seems to have problems -- atleast that's what he told me -- with server side caching for a few days now :-S
Supposed to be solved today. Hmm I'll wait a little bit longer then. I hope it makes a difference

well some of the problems seem to have been fixed.
I can access my blocks again in the admin, but I still can't see blocks most of the time on my site.

For example where hack is my main and user menu?
It's not a template problem ... I installed different ones and all have same problem.

So I guess it's still the server giving the probs. Anyone got a clue what I might be? So I can instruct my hoster.

could be that the MySQL user account for the XOOPS database can't write to the mysql/tmp folder.

depending on the MySQL version (mainly 4.1.7) there seems to be some problems when using utf8 collation.. setting to collation utf8_bin or latin1 might also cure it..

also regarding the example u just gave.. can u check in XOOPS admin.. click system and then blocks..

find the menu blocks and click edit and then check what pages.modules are selected for what it appears on..

if it's not visible on top page (home page) in the selection box at top it says view blocks visible in (selection box) change that to the newbb and it'll show only the blocks visible for that module.. you can then click edit and hopefully be able to change the visibility to all pages.. if thats the case do that again for all the other blocks..
