Greetings - XOOPS 2.0.9.2

How do I activate the feature to post comments for xoops?

For example. On the Web Links Module I click on the comments link, the web page refreshes, but I do not get the button to post a comment.

What have I forgoten to do?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance.

First off since you mentioned links, go to the module icon in the Administration Control Panel and make sure that comments are not disabled.

Also there you can decide if anonymous users can comment or not.

You need to do that for each module that allows comments.

HTH.

Greetings - Thank you for your response.

I am a bit confused. There is no "comments" module. So I am either missing something, or have some other module disabled (by some other name) that takes care of comments.

I did find all the options in all the other modules you mentioned.

Just to make sure I was not missing something, I unziped the xoops-2.0.9.2.zip and in the modules directory there did not seem to be a "commments" module.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance.

The comments are built into the individual modules and call the function from the system.

In other words, enable the comments in the modules that allow comments: like links, and news and the comments will work.

Greetings - Thank you for your patience.

In the links module, "comments are always approved", and anonymous users are not allowed to post comments.

In other words, the comments are not disabled and I still can not post any comments.

So I must be still be missing something.

Thank you for your assistance.

Greetings - XOOPS 2.0.9.2

I am still not getting any comment section.

Turning on debug provides the following:

Warning [PHP]: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in file D:\apache2triad\htdocs\include\notification_functions.php line 330

when I press the "comment" on a "Web Links" item.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Greetings - Thank you for your response.

My apologies, I do not understand what you meant by upload. What exactly do I need to do?

Do I need to re-install part of xoops?

Thanks In Advance.

do not reinstall or uninstall XOOPS or modules just reupload some files. fisrt try to reupload root/notifications.php and see if it cause the problem. then reupload all files in include/*.**/

Greetings - Thank you for the response.

I looked at what you stated 'notifications.php' only includes 'mainfile.php'.

So based on my previous experience with the 'booklist' module causing a blank page for notifications I decided to reinstall the site in a different directory.

I installed the Web Links module.

I created an additional registered user and set up notifications for Web Links for the administrator and my registered user.

End result after a bit of testing is that notifications and comments are working properly on the new site.

The only thing that I can conclude is that one of the installed modules is destroying my ability to post comments. So I will proceed carefully when rebuilding the site and test to make sure that the comments and notifications still work after each 3rd party module install.

A couple of good things came out of this. I understand the debug options a bit more, and I will be more carefull about the integrity of the modules that I install.

It seems that some of the more popular modules have not be run under debug by their respective authors to see if they have any undefined constants and/or warnings.

Live and learn.

And once again, thank you to all that responded to this thread. Your assistance was greatly appreciated.
