I agree that the technicality behind why this table gets unstable could be a topic of its own.

Glad to hear you got your site up and running - it's a good feeling to eventually rock n roll with it!

I can't take all the credit for this. Its the really smart guys who solved it - I just tried what they told me and documented it well so anyone can understand it even if you're a fool like me!!

Glad to have helped

Had same problem. Fixed it thanks to this thread by repairing the xoops_session table.

Wonder why it happens. It looks it appears when the site got a lot of visitors. Every sunday between 11-14 my site has about 4000-5000 visitors. Today I checked CPU usage on my W2003 server with IIS 6.0 and saw a CPU usage of 100% at that time. My server is a QUAD with 2Gb memory... It appears to me that the hardware is not the problem.

BTW my XOOPS is still 2.0.7.3

I have had the same problem, repaired the xoops_session table and it works again.

Do U think I will have to go often to phpmyadmin to do the repair ? Is it recursive ?

Thanx.

I've not had it since I first experienced it, so no, I don't think it's common per site so you may never experience it again. But it certainly seems to be a common problem for Xoopers.

Hi all,
my first post here...sure, i'm using XOOPS for a site like you.

Scenario:

Xoops 2.0.9.2 freshly installed on Linux Server @ Aruba.it ISP Hosting (in Italy is one of most famous, because is cheap )

I founded admin loop problem for 2 times and solved in 3 ways:

- removed all cookies and disabled Norton Internet Security (it had some settings against cached session... )

- chmod 777 /xoops-root/cache directory on webserver

- repaired MySQL table using "REPAIR TABLE 'xoops_session' in sql blank form @ mysql.aruba.it

I hope it's useful for the people who have same problem.

TNK YOU ALL FOR THESE SOLUTIONS...XOOPS WORK GREAT!

Hi there all, i'm new here and new to Xoops.
I had the double login problem described above and was about to go back to using phpnuke (which i now think is horrid). Then i searched around here and found my problem.

I tried everything listed here, reinstalled clean, emptied the session table, checked permissions...everything.

Then i found out it was my mainfile.php file.
It contained an entry refencing my site without the leading www.
Now i have altered this file, it all work perfectly.

I had this stupid problem also. For me the mainfile.php seemed to be the problem. Still not sure what exactly, but it had something to do with the path setting.

Tip: If you have problems: try to use your IP address instead of your domainname. It worked for me. Funny thing: after login in, I have change everything back and it still worked fine...

Can someone please tell me what's going on here ????

Greetz,
Mark
