I am curious to see examples of how far can XOOPS customization can be pushed. How far can a XOOPS user customize the look of their themes and templates to make their site not look like the standard 2 or three column CMS site?

Can XOOPS power a truly unique looking site?

Please post your links of inspiring XOOPS sites here to awe us and test the boundaries of Xoops.

the only limitations would be your own html and css abilities.

I think this theme rocks!

If you can do it in html, you can do it in Xoops. Simply put. All the theme is, is an html file that has smarty code in it, to pull the info from the php scripts. Of course you have the css style sheet that controls your colors, fonts and any special class' that you might have. Building a theme was a concept that I, for the longest time, was intimidated by. Its not too difficult, just takes time and experimentation.

This theme was purchased off of templatemonster.com.

Thanks for the comp on the theme though.

Does anybody know of an example where a user has radically modified the look of the XOOPS users & main menu so that it no longer looks and functions like the original?

i've always quite liked this design:
http://modules.linux-gamers.net/

as for modifying user/main menu blocks, well, i think anyone that has the tabmod installed has essentially been able to walk away from the standard main menu (since all their links can now be browsed horizontally)

That's a nice clean design, but it still looks like a standard CMS (& still very Xoopish )

Just to let you know that modules.linux-gamers.net doesn't exist anymore - it's rerouting to linux-gamers.net main site as I have moved to my ownhttp://xoops.web-udvikling.dk (where the old theme is still used)

I quite like that new linux-gamers.net theme, though

I use it on www.web-udvikling.dk
Pros: Nicer navigation
Cons: Not that easy to use - I have modded tabmod to have less PHP code in the theme, but it took some core modification.
