How to show the whole content of "latest news" and downloads

My site is quite usual )) left block, right block and center.
Latest downloads and latest news are in the center block. But I can't find out how to make them show the whole content. Only their headings are shown.
I want each new file (or news) and its description to be shown separately. Like here, for example https://xoops.org/ Latest XOOPS news

Sorry, if my post is not quiet clear, I don't know English well...

we use a slightly hacked version of the Spotlight module for the latest XOOPS news block (before you ask, the hack is not available, but will be part of the news 1.3 module). The spotlight module is very good regardless and should do what you want.

I tried GuitarGearHeads SuperSpotlight. Everything is looking good, but I want more :) It is showing the latest news (only 1) and other news (quantity is changeable). So, I want it to show more than 1 latest. Is it possible with this module (or with other spotlight modules)?
