Hi people.

I recently installed wordpress blog on my site. For some reason I can only view it in IE (I use v6.0) - when I click the blog link from the menu whilst in Firefox (1.0) I just get a blank page ???

Anybody know what the problem might be?

the link is

www.willr.info

select Blog from the menu - you may see what I mean.

Tanks for any help

Will

Hey Will,

I use firefox 1.0 and can access your blog perfectly fine! Nothings amiss on that side reinstall your firefox, that may help

Herko try again, I got to view it once, checked a couple of things and entered the blog again. Got a blank page the second time.

Went back to the site and with my webdeveloper plugin for Firefox disabled the cookies, was able to repeatedly access the blog after that. What could be in the cookies to cause that?

Sorry for being a bit dumb, but how would I check out what might be in the cookies that would cause this ?

Not sure what is wrong, tried to view cookie information, came up blank. Viewed source of the page and this is what I got:

< html >< body >< /body >< /html >

Added spaces so code can be seen.

Yep, that's what I got earlier on when I tried to view the source of the blank page.

It's only the blog though - every other area of the site seems to work fine...

If I disable cookies using webdeveloper, I can get along fine.

Actually, I just discovered that the same thing seems to happen with IE... I get in to blog once, but unless I clear cookies, I cannot get access after that...

Hmmm... any ideas??

Thanks for trying to help BTW

In the preferences of wordpress, are there any cookie options?

OK,

Under wordpress General Blog options I pretty much went through everything.

By process of elimination, I am pretty sure it's because I had
gzipcompression turned on (it said Whether your output should be gzipped or not. Enable this if you don’t already have mod_gzip running. ) so I turned it on, but I'm pretty sure that this is what killed the blog....
although I don't know enough about this sort of thing to have any idea why - will teach me not to meddle with the default settings!

Can someone else test to see if it's fixed ?? Seems OK for me now. Thanks for all help :)

Looking good, no problems reading your blog.

Strange problems develop sometimes, we work through them and learn.

We sure do :)

This whole website thing is a steep learning curve... although I tried a couple of other content management systems prior to XOOPS (mambo & postnuke) and I still say XOOPS has been the most user friendly one.

Cheers for the help...

now onto the next thing
