Hello all,

Firstly i have just started using XOOPS and it's a great portal system so thanks to all for the hard work.

What i'm looking for is a news module in which i can post articles under different categories and make these categories appear in different blocks on the Top Page. Is there such a module currently avaliable now?

Also i do not want to allow registered users to post the articles, only the administrator (me). I've tried News and News2 but both allow users to post articles and i can't find an option to turn that feature off.

I have also saw a few sites in which the news module looks darn good but have not been able to find them here.

Any help and recommendation is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

If you have news1.2:

goto the admin section, enter the News Module admin section, select Submit/Approve preferences -> voila!



Also you have the option in News Module -> Preferences, to have topic display, instead of all in one (as default).

Hope this fulfills your request....

Sorry this is seem a little dumb but News 1.2 is just applying the hack to News 1.1?

Ah yes thanks for that informative link. i'll try and install News 1.2.1 and see how it goes. However, the download link on the site you posted is down, anyone knows where else i might get the news module? many thanks in advance.

Hi, i've tried searching the Module Repository but am unable to find News v1.21. There's v2 and v1 but no 1.21.

News 1.21

That is the direct link to the page with the download for News 1.2.1 . It works for me, please post again if you are still having troubles getting it, I'll temporarily host it for you to download... maybe that'll help

It's not in the module repository at Xoops.org, the development site is the only place to get it.

Wow thanks a lot! I must have been blind not to see that heh. Many thanks again. I'll go try out the module and see how it goes. Btw, great community here!
