Why are themes all in zip format when ...

I just came from 7dana.com where the themes are all in .zip format, yet the XOOPS install module requires they be in tar.gz form for the automatic installation.

How do I fix this?

Themes are not the same things as templates. Hopefully this article will help explain the differences:
