Hi,
I searched for this everywhere but :(

Ok how can I add new topics etc to my XOOPS site? In my menu i dont see any add a new post etc links :(

Plz help

welcome to xoops.

Are you trying to use the news module to add topics?

Ok, it says "In the XOOPS admin panel, and more particularly in the general preferences, select the news module in the scrolling list named "Module for your start page"

but my admin panel only has an option saying none and nothing else :(

Ok, you click on the link that says "Administration Menu"

The page that comes up should have yellow module icons on the left hand side. Do you see the rectangle yellow icons?

Sorry just don't understand why it would be none.

Ok, I see white. And I have seen that before.

Couger, I am going to give you another faq page to read.

But double check that all your folders that were to be made chmod 777 are in fact so. Most of the time it is folder permissions that cause this.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help.

Have you installed any modules yet?

Go to the area where that screenshot was taken, and click on the "Modules" link to go to the modules page. You can install your forums, news etc from there.

Ok I am new at this and I can answer this one without all these questions back and forth.

You said you are new to XOOPS so login to your administration Panel
Click on System
look for Modules and click on it
Then look for NEWS and to the right of it you will see an ICON that looks like a floppy disk. Click on that to install it.

Then go back into your prefs and set your default module home page to NEWS.

Another Module you might want to look at is Spotlight so you dont have to do that. So far I could not get Spotlight to work on any of my site that are 2.0.3.9 (beta) though.
