Re: News

OK. I guess I don't follow instructions well.
News page is blank. globals is off.

Here are some clues.

_MI_NEWS_NAME appears in Main Menu. Not the word news.
Only five active files: news_by_topic.html, news_index.html, news_article.html, news_archive.html and news_item.html.

Six files are not in the template. As an example when trying to upload.
I get this message:
Template file news_block_bigstory.html does not need to be installed (PHP files using this template file does not exist)

when I browse and try to generate these files I get a not found message (not exist)

Any ideas? Need more info? Need a smarter user?

Joe

did u just install this module, or did u have the old news module installed 1st?

you need to follow the proper upgrade steps in the readme file to upgrade..

if news was not already installed then i should recheck your files, and possibly re upload them as maybe they weren't copied across right 1st time..

Re: News

I had the older 1.1 module installed. Had trouble with zipping over it (prefer real tar files) and so I deleted and mv'd over the new 1.2.1 module. I think I failed to uninstall properly.

Can I recover from this? Or should I do a total new install?

Thanks for helping.

if ur not worried abt losing ur content in the news module, then uninstall and reinstall would be easier..

but i would try just re uploading the news folder to ur server.. then goto XOOPS admin and update the news module..

then run this script >http://www.example.com/modules/news/admin/upgrade.php

change example.com to yuour domain name..

next goto templates in admin and click list on the news templates.. if ur using a default template.. it shud be ok, otherwise just delete all the existing templates and then regenerate them..

hopefully that shud do the trick..

Re: News

I ended up doing a reinstall. Partially successful so far. Difficulties with permissions and installing over.

Came home and did the upgrade as instructed and have success!!
Still lots of problems with permissions. Both boxes are debian BTW.

Thanks for the help. Now on to the next module.
