hello there!! I just set up my XOOPS site, and really liked it. The thing is that I dont want people to register on my site, and can view everything without registering. ON my "Main Menu" block only shows link to NEWS. and when i login it has more links to POLLS, CONTACT ME, etc. How can i make it so that even annyomous can view those links. ANother thing is taht my baner doesnt work when i use a Image banner ad. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go to the admin page and choose groups. Select to modify anonymous users, beside blocks check any blocks, including your ad block that you want anonymous users to see.

Next higher is module access, check each of these that you want in the main menu for anonymous users. Click on the update group button at the bottom of the page, and your done.

Welcome to XOOPS BTW.

One more question, How can i make a database backup of my website?

Re: setting permissions for modules

I generally do that through the backup function in my cpanel.

If you don't have cpanel, you can export your database with PHPmyadmin, and download all files in your home directory.

With cpanel I get it in one file gziped.

FYI, phpMyadmin can also zip the output to a file for export. Same for importing, you can upload a zip (I prefer gzip) file.

I use the Xoops Backup 2.16 module. I've set my preferences to just push down the zip file. Works great and has already really saved my butt once.
