I need urgent help please.

I have been running my XOOPS site for about a year and have been trying to install an alternative bulletin board. My efforts really screwed up my site so I've reinstalled 2.09 beta (that was running perfectly before I started messing about with it). My site has now been restored to it's former glory but it will no longer accept my admin reg. I have tried the 'forgotten password' feature but it won't accept that either.

the user details are still available on phpmyadmin but the passwords are of course encrypted.

Does anyone know of a way that I can at least get in as admin in order to sort out this mess?

I've apparently done something really stupid and urgently require some advice on how I can get in.

PS ... It gets worse ... tried to register as a test but won't accept that either

The situation is worse than I first thought.

No one can now log into my site anymore so any help or advice is urgently needed.

Not sure if it would help - try to use phpmyadmin repair or empty the session table. I think someone was having a similar problem logging to the site.

Or install 2.0.7.3 in stead of 2.0.9 (which is a BETA, for testing purposes only).

Just a quick logical check

considering that XOOPS uses MD5 enycrption, just encrypt your orignal password using MD5 enycrpting tools and check if it looks the same as its in DB. (just a guess that XOOPS uses MD5, confirm it from devs). If its the same than you can be happy that you DB is ok. Now all that you need is resinstallation of 2.0.7.3 or reverating back to you old backup. But if db has gone bad then its a mess for you...

Best of Luck

Thanx for all your help.

Unfortunately, I had to start again with a fresh install and a new database.

I suppose that there is a valuable lesson to be learned from this ....
