I take it to add content to the main menu bar you have to write a new module for every page you wish to add?

I'm trying to make a new link in main menu which will allow a user to browse a list of static pages but am finding difficulty in a module that achives this.

all the modules seem to have "comments" or "date posted" , and im not really wanting to add dynamic pages, I just want to add a page of information about my site

Try wf-channel. You can download it at WF-Projects. The xoops.org website uses the wf-channel module for their "All about XOOPS" section.

I use tinycontent myself with good success.

Note that it will add a submenu item to the main module in the Main menu. Is you wish to have a full menu with links to your pages then use Multimenu also.
