Where do you insert the content for the home page ?

I read from the docs that you can configure a certain module to be the home page such as NEWS.

I want the main screen, which is current blank to have some pictures, possible a flash presentation.

Editing a particular php page is not beyond my capabilities...I just need to know where to start.

If you want a custom lay out on your main page you can always start with a custom block (sys admin --> blocks --> ad new block) and make it visible only on the center block of your main page.
Underneath you can place other modules or whatever you like (even nothing).

Did what you suggested. Works pretty good. It's a start until I am able to spend more time on this.
