1) What are the legitimate XOOPS forum software options for a new site.

2) Which forum software best integrates into xoops. Integration meaning a wealth of block options that would display information on the main page. Also the forum software should use a central user profile that it would share with xoops.

3) I understand that the new invision version was free and had a port over to XOOPS for a very brief moment before charging for thair software. What became of this?

4) My favorite forum software is the new free Simple Machines forum software and the for pay vBulletin forum software. Is there a port from either of these two offerings?

My site will be centered around community based forum as well as blogs on the main page by some more reknown writers. I hope XOOPS can help me with this. Postnuke sure couldn't.

BTW, I love the new site design.

Re: Four forum software questions by a newbie...

1) Newbb 2, IPB mod, PHPBB port (the two latter ones need XOOPS core to be hacked to share user tables)

2) Newbb

3) I believe the IPB mod will not be updated in the future due to the payment charged by Invision.

4) I have not seen Simple Machines ported and vBulletin is not legal to port as it is not GNU GPL licensed.

Play around with the options in the forums here on xoops.org - that's Newbb 2
