I just did a clean install with no problems - everything works except for showing the icons in either the user screen or admin screens. While the pages are loading the status line in IE or Mozilla shows that it is trying to load the graphic files but then they only show a X instead of the actual icon. I copied all the files from the xoops-2.0.7.3 distribution to the server - had no problems with the install and everything seems to be working just fine - only thing is the missing icons - also tried to set the file attributes to 777 just to see if that would make any difference - none. I tried to do an install of Mambo and the same thing - everyting installed correctly - but no icons.

Try right clicking on the red X's where the icons are meant to be and have a look at the path information. Is this correct?

Yes, tried that - the address reported is correct and so is the size. During the loading of the site into either IE or Mozilla the status lines show that the server is downloading the graphic files - they just end up showing as a x instead of the actual icon - everything is still usable - I can click on the x and it will do what's it's suppose to. If I use a template with no graphic icons, just text buttons everything looks fine. I feel that this limits me and there should be a easy solution. As an afterthought I jumped on another computer and tried viewing the site using that machine - no luck with eith IE, Mozilla, or Firefox.

I have the very same problem. I have re-installed, double checked, did the URL directly to the gifs and they work.... but when using the program there are NO images. I tried, but failed. I have installed many other programs but this one has me stumped.

Interesting development. When I right click on the red X and click on property and get the path, I copy and paste into the address block and click go and show the gif on screen. Then I click back to the page that had shown the red X, the icon appears!!!! But great? Will I tried this for 2 others and they appeared. However, upon refresh, they were gone again. Is there a problem with the IMAGE php program here? I cleared off all files in reinstalled with the same results.... Please, can anyone think why this is happening?

what browser are you using? I noticed that in IE for XP SP2 some images would not display until I choose "Show Image" from the right-click menu.

Your server is responding quite weird to be fair...

Example when calling an image from your website (as requested in page):
Quote:
GET /themes/x2t/logo.gif HTTP/1.1
Host: www.evpspiritvoices.com
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10.1
Accept: image/png,*/*;q=0.5
Accept-Language: nl-be,nl;q=0.8,en-us;q=0.5,en;q=0.3
Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate
Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7
Keep-Alive: 300
Connection: keep-alive
Referer:http://www.evpspiritvoices.com/
Cookie: PHPSESSID=8010135420c1b733610752003b477ccd

HTTP/1.x 403 Forbidden
Date: Tue, 05 Oct 2004 14:28:03 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.28 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.3.3 mod_log_bytes/1.2 FrontPage/5.0.2.2634 mod_ssl/2.8.15 OpenSSL/0.9.6b
Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=91
Connection: Keep-Alive
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

If however I request the file directly (so without Referer field, the response is the following:
Quote:
HTTP/1.x 200 OK
Date: Tue, 05 Oct 2004 14:30:00 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.28 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.3.3 mod_log_bytes/1.2 FrontPage/5.0.2.2634 mod_ssl/2.8.15 OpenSSL/0.9.6b
Last-Modified: Mon, 04 Oct 2004 14:42:57 GMT
Etag: "4c0171-489-41616171"
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Content-Length: 1161
Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=97
Connection: Keep-Alive
Content-Type: image/gif

Do you got a bad working referer check on your site or so? I would check that, since there isn't anything else that differs from a directly request or in a page.

Thanks, I looked at that too and I thought it was out of whack... so I deleted the complete site off the server by changing the DNS to blank IP and went back in and set it up from scratch. Success.. Everything is working as planned. Just a note, the system worked fine when I first uploaded the program and then when I added some private modules (from other sites), it went out, (the images not showing). Maybe that started it off, I dont know.
Thanks a lot at looking at my problem and suggesting answers. I know everyone elses system worked, Only from starting from stratch, did it finally work. thanks again.
