I was so happy with this website. I hope not being able to connect to the database will make me loose all of my information because it took a long time to set everything up.

Nasty! Can you give us details of your XOOPS setup? Do you host your site yourself, or do you use a hosting service? Is your XOOPS site hosted on the same server as your database? Did you make any changes just prior to this problem occuring? Do you have any backups?

double check the connection details in mainfile.php in your XOOPS root.

If no joy I would check with your webhost to make sure no changes have been made, and that the database is not down.

That error *usually* occurs when there is a problem on the host side, but it's usually only temporary.

Thanks Bassman and the rest of you, it WAS just temporary on my host's side. I really appreciate it. I'm backing it up AS WE SPEAK.
