Hello. I've been all over the forums looking for a good, at least basic, complete, CSS/XHTML, tableless theme and/or template for XOOPS.

I've seen a lot of "when it's done I'll post" messages, but I don't remember seeing any "here's one that works and is complete" message. There have been some links to sites, but from what I could tell, some were single files (not complete solutions), and some I couldn't tell whether they were tables or tableless.

I'm working on a site for my church, small as it is, and would like to use XOOPS - it seems like the best of the options I have found so far to allow multiple page editors (pages being the operative word there - blogs won't do for this application).

I find using CSS/XHTML much better than tables, but would rather not have to go through all the discovery of "where does this table get generated." I'm still looking through the help files and tutorial pages (thanks to all those who have posted them!), but am still hoping to not have to roll my own if someone has something at least basic available. It really is more a matter of making sure I have all the files that need to be changed (template and theme) than copying someone else's hard work (unless they wouldn't mind sharing so I can get a start).

Thanks in advance for any help or pointers available.

Are there really no examples out there of a tableless format? I'm looking to get working on this site soon, but I can't even determine which files need to be modified. Any help would be most appreciated!

I would like something like this as well.

What would really be nice is a "Theme Maker" module.....

You can check these themes by haran out at http://oswd.org/

Purple Haze is likely the simplest to convert to XOOPS format:
"Haze" at oswd.org

I hope that helps.

Why people call it "all css" theme is really beyond me Heck I use plenty of CSS in my table layout themes... Ah well.

I have, too, looked for examples of CSS positioning themes, but if it hadn't been for Herko, who shipped a work in progress to me, I had been kept in the dark.

A rather specialised theme using CSS positioning of DIV's is available in the downloads section

i was expecting a response like this because i do not understand it myself. in fact i did a search to find this terminology (all css or css design) used in reference to a tableless design before i posted. i believe tableless design is what this post is about.

so, call it what you may a "tableless layout", whatever. essentially tables are used for displaying data and not for designing layout. so, a tableless layout utilizes
and tags as well as css. that said, it is much simpler, for me, to create a theme for XOOPS using tables. the challenge is to create one that is all divs, spans, and css.

i have downloaded countless layouts which do not use tables, but i will check this one out.

Yeah, I know - I just object to that term. Probably to do with the fact that all I've heard is that tableless layout is the best thing since sliced bread - but it's been darn hard to find anything on the matter, dealing with dynamic data.

Even here, it's been very scarce with information and for quite a while, I was just programming it randomly. A "clear:both;" here, a "float:left;" there - but not really understanding it until I found This complete guide on CSS positioning and was able to do the aforementioned theme based on Herko's work.

Hi,

OOPS!!!!!!
I don't understand why Bassman's Link to inknoise.com causes my modem to start to dialing when I've a LAN conection as default - maybe I'm just paranoid - after all a window which looks like my old dfu window says its dialing up my old modem-provider - but ... better safe than sorry.
This link will remain forever unopened ....

Alan
