I've tried this on my site hosted by 1and1, it creates the new links but all modified urls and the homepage go to a 404 page not found error.

Any ideas?

it's a good hack for some people, but it's not working for 2.014 or other updated version.

I tested but just failed on new release 2.014.

Good idea, but expired....

I wish the publisher may lauch a new version, so that we may get updated.

Anyone knows other module or hack deliver the same result on 2.014?

http://www.xoops2.ru/ is a example, but I believe webmaster's using a old version of xoops.

Really. I have same problem with 2.0.14 and I found it now. You have to go to General preferences and turn off GZIP compression.

And now I have new question. How to adopt this hack to use both Simplified URLs and gzip compression. I really want it all. ((:

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think so. Turn off Gzip will not help I suppose.

Because default status of Gzip is already "Off".

I wish the publisher will lauch the new version to cater to 2.014.

I downloaded version 1.5 but when I follow the instructions, my index page gives me the message "This module does not exist"

I tried several suggestions from the forum but it does not work.

Pls advise

It works with 2.0.13.2 (xoops2.ru site) and with 2.2.4 (tips-on-bet.com site). I'm certain that these ones work because I've tested them

On certain modules though there are problems. You have to exclude those modules within the simplified_urls.php code.

xooperstore, CBB 2.03, cafepress and rssfit are 4 modules that I tested and they aren't working right with simplified_urls on unfortunatelly.

what i would like to knoe is how to remove the "-index" from the mods friendly url string, it looks crap and shouldnt need defining ??

Also i think version 1.3 or Reynaldo's ShortURLs 0.3 the array for mod rewriting the user profile page was correct, where as the latest version lacks this :(
