Ooops, missed that. Then it looks better

I just wanted to make sure this didn't fall into obscurity as I think this feature would be really, really good for XOOPS
(too bad I'm not skilled enough to fix it myself).

Hello,

2 years ago i was using B2evolution before using xoops.
There was a plugin for a chat like facebook. It was integrated in the admin toolbar.

As the admin toolbar is finding is place in themes and GUI in xoops, it would be nice to incorporate this bar by default in every theme, and by the same way include in it the who's on line, including the ability to open a chat.

Maybe it would be necessary first to open a new subject, for include in the core the admin toolbar, and after add an option to active/desactive the chat in the toolbar.


About the chat, maybe it would be possible to adapt the shoutbox from CVD ?

Could you please explain a bit more about this admin toolbar you are talking about (or am I missing something here)?

B2Evolution is a multiblog CMS i used before xoops...

Once connected, an admin/user toolbar appear on both side (site and admin), a tollbar like the one that is include in last morphogenesis theme and also xdt theme... and that i hope will be soon incorporated in the core (because its really usefull!)

One developper had developped for B2Evolution a who's online with the option of chat for this toolbar (as a hack), like on facebook...

I remember it by looking the link of limecity http://anantgarg.com/2009/05/13/gmail-facebook-style-jquery-chat/

It would be very nice to have the same chat in xoops!

OK, so basically we still need someone to implement the actual chat functionality. Well, I hope someone finds time to do this when he gets back from his vacation (or anyone else for that matter), because I think this would be a really useful feature.

Looks pretty ok to implement in Xoops, but would definately be a nice feauture in Xoops

I suggest you take a look at iJab. iJab is opensource and it's based on XMPP protocol. iJab has a facebook style web chat bar and I think sb could try to integrate it into XOOPS.

Ijabb looks very nice and has more functions than jquery chat, but then again seem more complicated to port.

Of course this is only how I see it, someone else might see this port as very easy ;)
