Actually, I found one better. It's a freeware php program called TWIG. I am going to attempt to wrap it in Xoops.

I am also going to try to start a mod dev project for it. I would love to see this thing running on XOOPS. I am not very good at this stuff, so please come help if you're interested.

Hello Herve,

Mainly I just want users to be able to create and administrate groups with a group page for each group, schedule events, send out reminders and have the ability to see and interact with other people in the group. A simple threaded forum for each group page, perhaps... (maybe with user pages and photos in the future.) I am looking for small applications that work on sourceforge right now. It seems like every time I find one it's a whole CMS. I want to find something that will work as a module for Xoops.

Thank You,
Preachur

Hi all

There?s a port of the MlsFriend module to work on XOOPS 20132 series HERE

That module has a lot of social networking features.
May be useful to you

I agree. Mlsfriends has many of the features we need. Are there plans to port it to the newer versions of Xoops? I think it could be used. If not then I might take a crack at it in January. I just want to make sure whatever I do can be made to work with the much anticipated future releases of Xoops.

wcrwcr,

MLSfriends is more of a dating script though, this is nothing like Meetup.com

Hi Hérvé,

I originally wrote a details description, sort of a road map for the developers I chose to see what I wanted, I'll see if I can dig it out, was a fair while ago.

Here is what I'd like to see, I meant to post this information before, I commented on your news article once about features.

Now this module wouldn't require everything the same as meetup, as other modules could be used, for example cbb and xcgal.

Ok user clicks module, the first page is maybe a list of categories with groups in, Blocks could be as follows:

+ Most popular group - maybe handled by vote for group
+ Newest Group
+ most members in group
+Dynamic block to show groups dependant on which category the user is in.

Maybe this could work with CBB, ie all groups have what seem like their own forum, but posts are pulled from a selected forum category within cbb.

User can search for groups by country, postcode/zip and town, which can can set from back end.

Group categories can be set from admin.

Option to allow user to suggest a category.

Admin option to expire inactive groups after set amount of time with no logins or posts, which can be set by admin. Automated E-mail which mails admin to advise of group expiration unless activity is made on group.

Group creator/manager can change ownership to another member with a form, this can be admin approved first or not. (useful for subscription based sites).

Maybe a Google map to show where groups are located, with pin points.

Start a meet-up link in the module and the menu item.

Members section to show who is a member of a specific group.

Invite friends to group.

Whats new in the group.

Group stats, ie how many members, how many meet-ups they've had, how many are arranged, location, when it was founded, and it's rating.

About us for the group.

Rate meet-ups (ie the event itself)

There would also have to be another block/dynamic menu for group links to message boards, photos, polls, etc, etc.

Grouping options to limit things like how many meet-ups can be arranged in a set period, how much space they have for images, how many polls they can create, etc, etc, would also be great for use on commercial sites.

To be honest I suppose the best bet is to register on meet-up and have a play, see how it all works.

A module to work like this would be great.

It could use other modules too, maybe adhoc it like the cbb does with polls,

Here is a meetup group for coffee in Chicago:

http://coffee.meetup.com/168/?gj=sj9

http://www.meetup.com/

Don't know if this will be of help Hérvé but this is the sort of thing, like I said, best bet is the test the meet-up.com site and see how it works.
