hello,

i will post the steps how i came up with something close to what xoops.org has. it a bit confusing. i am tracking this thread, so i get an email everytime someone replies here i will be doing a documentation about it for sure in at max 2 weeks time since i will be using it for 2 XOOPS sites...

i used the following modules:
1) News Blocks - allows you to have 6 different news blocks
2) Group permission module

sorry about the details. i am a bit busy on other stuff. hope you understand

@sinus

Sorry, but your instructions aren't that perfect I have no clue on how did you do it. I'm getting somewhere close, but far away from perfect. If you could list at least a little better instructions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way what XOOPS version and news version you are using?

I'm trying on XOOPS 2.2 news 1.3.1

P.S. And I know you are stressed about time.

it's a slightly modified spotlight module..

m0nty... this is helpful. Are you "privy" to those slight modifications? If so, can you share your knowledge?

Don’t know why but looks like this kind of request is being ignored again & again.
I don’t know whats the big secret in it. If this is just a slightly modification than I guess there is no harm in sharing this great hack.

I doubt it is a case of it being ignored.. but I would expect it is more a case of the module not being supported being a hacked version...

Perhaps asking Hervet if he can support this in his next update as an option?

This is a hack? A "slightly modification" ?? I don't understand this secret...

I wish that could be done soon.

Anyway Thanks hervet for showing your interest in doing this thing.

Ok . Here is my question to Hervet or any develeper.

Can't this be done by editing Latest News block? And by "This" i mean to show 3 latest news (storyid) from each storytopic in the main page. Just titles no any detail.
Exactly the same way as we see
"Xoops", "Modules", "Themes" & "YAXS".
