The following database was not found on the server:

Attempt to create it?

I press atempt to create database >> and i get :

This may be not the case in your control panel but when I created a database named xoopsdb it actually was created as username_xoopsdb because of the settings for my hosting account.

Can you check in the control panel the name of the database?

Regards,

Martijn

Sure, this is my current configuration:

Database Hostname localhost
Database Username australi_master
Database Name australi_asa
Table Prefix XOOPS

Also i went in phpMyAdmin (version 2.6.1-pl2) to check and the db is there. I even ran the mysql.structure and mysql.data provided in the "install/sql/" folder of xoops2.0.13.2 program. Now i have table structures and data in there.

Furthermore, called up my server administrator, and they couldn't help because clearly they can see in cPanel and phpMyAdmin that i have created a database called australi_asa.

This is the error message i keep getting:
####BEGIN####
check database
Connection to database server is OK.
Database australi_asa does not exists.

The following database was not found on the server:
australi_asa

Attempt to create it?
#####END#####

When i click on "next" to attempt to create (even though its there), i get this message:
####BEGIN####
Could not create database. Contact the server administrator for details.
#####END#####

Here is my server information if it helps:
OS: Linux
Apache: 1.3.33 (unix)
Perl: 5.8.1
PHP: 4.3.11
MySql: 4.0.22 standard
cPanel: 10.2.0 release 25

Any idea what i have done wrong?
(Very impressed by your fast response Quest)

All seems in order. Could you have put an extra space or something along with either the database when creating it or in the database name during the install. It has to be something like that... I think. In other words the name you are entering into the install has something different (white space-something) which is not identical to the actual dbase name???
If that isn't it you may have to re-create things by dumping them off the server and then do a fresh install. Also, sometimes files can get corrupted during the download process of the version or modules you download.

Interesting...

Same error after re-downloading zip file, re-uploading html files, and re-installing. Maybe XOOPS doesnt work on all systems.

Guys i "fixed" (avoided) this problem by introducing only the prefix provided by my hosting service. An example:
Your website its called http://www.something.com.
The hosting providers tells you that your username is "something".
Your database created its called something_xoopsdb. Just use the prefix "something" and it will work.
I hope you can fix this too.

It is very common that when a host provider creates an account for you it is also included with the prefix to the database you create.

Let's say you call your site xxxxxxxxx.com. They create your account and the actual account path is something like:
home/xxxxxxxxx/public_html. This is known as the Physical Path.

When you create your database and call it xoopsdb for example the host provider often adds to the name thus creating the database as xxxxxxxxx_xoopsdb. Note the underscore too.

So, your actual XOOPS database name becomes: xxxxxxxxx_xoopsdb

I hope this helps.
