Ok, so Metin and I have been messaging each other back and forth about some type of module to allow artists to upload music, have their own pages....basically like making MP3.com out of xoops. I thought about the Jamroom software at http://www.jamroom.net or http://www.talldude.com (whichever works first), and figured that it would be the best bet for something like that. However, it's no longer as cheap as it used to be, and a module version to build into XOOPS would be much better anyway.

So basically the request is to have some kind of module made so sites can give artists their own mp3.com-like page, granting them the ability to upload music, an image or images, maybe have their own guestbook.... If there is a more simple way to do this without having to have a module made, I'm all ears.

The jam room seems really complicated and lots of functions..

Yeah, it is complex to some degree, but the general idea is there.

And if I knew php, I'd be on the project quick...but alas, I don't.

couldn't debaser module provide the basis of something similar?
already provides uploading, description, streaming, rating, comments and most of XOOPS benefits

Im ready to go on this project...
an mp3.com-like module for XOOPS would be great.
I can do the php, database, XOOPS integration, ui, flash jukebox.

I already offer music portals for musicians and could also use a system like this for some web sites.

(I havent seen Jamroom)
So how does it need to work? thats what i need to know. lets plan ito out. I can implement it with enough details.

So its a profile page for a musician or group.

Profile
-Name,location, photo upload ... ???

Discography
-List songs/trax
-upload mp3's (full or clips)
-flash jukebox module to play mp3s on site (actually easy)
-protect mp3s from download or provide free download
-notify of new music released option for any users/fans

Events (Tours)
-list of upcoming dates and venues

Services
-description of music related services offered




Would that work? what else or what not

I'm interested in something like this.. but wud be for a DJ page instead of band (same principles)

a Bio area too on the profile page too where the band/dj could write a bit abt himself..

also a top tunes part too where the dj could list his top 10 favourite tracks.

we maybe able to also offer a donation for such a module to be developed.. and i would gladly help in development and testing.

we need some name suggestions so we can start the module project... we need to get through the planning phase and lock down a list of features. I would be happy to program the system from that.

I agree it should work for artists, musicians, DJs, groups, etc..

Lets do this.
