Whether XOOPS correctly identifies an NTL user's real IP address or just their NTL proxy server, depends on the script it uses (of which I have not a clue). However, the good folks over at the 'unofficial' NTL forum at www.chetnet.co.uk helped me resolve a similar issue recently.
The following script reveals the user's real IP.
function getIP()
{
$ip;
if (getenv('HTTP_CLIENT_IP')) $ip = getenv('HTTP_CLIENT_IP');
else if(getenv('HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR')) $ip = getenv('HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR');
else if(getenv('REMOTE_ADDR')) $ip = getenv('REMOTE_ADDR');
else $ip = 'UNKNOWN';
return $ip;
}
You can then display the user's IP with:
echo getIP();
