I'm having no luck finding a module to add capcha to the user registration form. Is there one and I'm missing finding it?

Thanks,
Betty

Hi,

I'm running XOOPS 2.3.2
I'd originally set the site up prior to pointing the domain name to it, so it was:
http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/
when I initially set it up.

They just moved our server to a new facility and the IP changed. So far, I've gone thru and converted any occurrance of the old IP URLs to the domain name.

However, the default template is looking for the style sheet, images, etc at the old IP.

    <
link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="" href="http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/backend.php" />

    <
link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/ico" href="http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/favicon.ico" />

    <
link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" title="Style sheet" href="http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/xoops.css" />
    <
link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" title="Style sheet" href="http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/themes/default/style.css" />
...
<
td id="headerlogo"><a href="http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/" title="American Livebearer Association"><img src="http://72.36.167.186/~livebear/themes/default/xoops-logo.png" alt="American Livebearer Association" />a>td>

I've checked the system preferences, general.
I've checked mainfile.php
I've checked the db
I did a search for the IP within all files under the XOOPS directory with no luck.
and I can't find anything that specifies it look at the old IP.
I dumped all the files in the cache and told it to Check templates for modifications.
I can't find anything that's telling it to look at the old IP URL.

The admin theme is finding it's stuff just fine.
When I choose a different theme, it displays fine and a view source turns up no mention of the IP.

What am I missing??

Thanks,
Betty

I'm running the latest version of XOOPS and have protector running and set up to hit project honeypot. It appears to be doing a good job, however, we just received an e-mail from a user who received the following message when he attempted to post:
Quote:
Protector rejects your post, because your IP is registered in RBL

I checked and the username does exist and has been activated by the site admin.

There is one address in the protector bad IP field: 85.237.27.136:1241610254

I'm not sure how that IP got there. Does protector write IPs there? or is that list added to manually by the admins?

I have no way of getting the user's IP address to see what's going on there.

Suggestions?

and does anyone know where the english version of the protector documentation is located?

Thanks,
Betty

Interesting. so in that scheme, I can't use the remember me option at login?

I'm not sure this is the correct forum for this. If not, please move it.

I'm running XOOPS 2.3.2
NewBB (CBB) 3.08

We had our first spammer show up on our forum and I need to implement a way for the forum moderators to either set spammers to nopost or to be reviewed. The only way I can see to do that is to create two groups in xoops. one with forum permissions set the same as a registered user, but with the review post option selected. and set the locked group to not being able to post, edit or delete. I think those groups could be used to keep them from posting spam in other modules as well. but that would mean giving forum moderators the ability to edit users which I'm not totally comfortable with.

Is that the best solution or is there another I'm missing?

Thanks,
Betty

So does the CAPTCHA implementation on impressCMS successfully keep out spam bots?

If not, is there a good solution available?
e.g. hidden field on the registration form, implementing a question or code the user manually enters at registration, reCAPTCHA , etc.
I didn't turn one up via search.

Thanks,
Betty

ok, so that is the latest version.

I'm betting it's a permissions issue. Does anyone know where a list of folders is that need their permissions changed?
