I guess my next question to pose is,

Is there another news-type module that I can use that would have this functionality?

I have a XOOPS site.

I have news articles posted on the site.

On the front page or 'top page' I would like to include the latest news story (only 1) and of that story, only include about 500-800 characters of the article before it says 'read more' and takes them to the news page of that article.

In blocks administration, I can select recent headlines, randmon headlines, archives, etc. But not the news itself.

Can this be done? Would someone be able to provide me with some assistance?
