Inbox Notification

I have a title bar with inbox in there, my problem is at the moment it does not let you know if there is a pm in your inbox. I was wondering how to change it so that it shows up that there is a message waiting like in the user menu. I have turned the user menu off and cannot find where the block content for the user menu is to get the code. Can someone tell me where i can find it or just tell me the code for it?

However it always seems to go to the else? what am i doing wrong?

I want to make a like that either says login or if they are logged in say logout...like


if (userloggedin==no)
a href=www.domainname.com/login.php> login < / a >

if (userloggedin==yes)
a href=www.domainname.com/user.php?op=logout> logout < / a >

Im having the same problem but would like for both to happen. Like to have anonymous users to be able to see recent posts, as well as to see all modules. When i set up the blocks recent posts are not in there when i select anonymous.

edit: Nevermind System -> Groups -> Anonymous
Set permissions there
