How can I move XOOPS to a new DATABASE SERVER

My XOOPS install has been running VERY SLOW lately (taking 2 minutes to serve every page!!!)

It never used to do this, but my (not too terribly helpful) hosting provider says its probably a slow database server thats to blame. The database isnt exactly huge (only 4 mb)- and it has been checked, and optimized.

They advise me to move my XOOPS data to a NEW database (which they suggest will likely be on a different, faster datbase server since they are 'adding servers all the time')

Well.. OK

So i put the XOOPS site offline, and backed up all the data.

I can go and make a NEW DB and import the data to there, no problem.

the question is, how to tell my XOOPS installation where the new DB server is?

does XOOPs have a config file I can edit, that contains the server IP, database name, DB user login and password???

(TIA)

XOOPS Version:
XOOPS 2.2.3 Final

XOOPS Theme:
default

XOOPS Template Set:
default

PHP Version:
4.3.11

MySQL Version:
4.0.27-max-log

Server Software:
Apache

PROBLEM:

I have a couple of modules that post a link to misc.php

clicking on the link causes a popup window to open (as it should!) but instead of content, i get the error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error
or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administratorsupport@supportwebsite.com and inform them of the time the error occurred
and
anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache/1.3.33 Server

any hints on whats causing this??

Its a proper unix-LF file, and the file permissions look normal! (same as everything else in that folder...)
