Default config use "text mode" then you must chmod 777 chat and msg.php.
config.php is provided for compatibility with older versions.
This version you native XOOPS config API.

You can also configure khat to use only database, then you don't have to modify acces rigths to cache directory or files.
Useful with some webhosting.

It's khat v1.5beta (july 2003), a OO recoding of khat using Xoops2 API. Due to a lack of testers, this version wasn't completed and I think it's not bugs free :(

Now I convert my modules to iXprim a new CMS which is in beta test.
