I have made a simple IRC chat module for my site based on a skeleton program someone posted up (It's just a JAVA client to connect to an IRC server.)

Now, in a block on the right hand side of the site, I want to display 'There are x users in the chat' How would I go about creating this block? I'm more or less a PHP/Xoops newbie and am trying to learn as I go along.

Thanks for your help

I should also mention that I did not do a fresh install. I figure that if updates work on this mirror of my real site, then I can just change those few values back then copy and paste it back over to my real server

I'm trying to make a copy of my web site on my home computer, so I can make any changes/hacks like updating XOOPS without the worry of wrecking anything, then just copy and paste everything back over.

Here's the problem (please note I'm new to all this in Unix as well)
1. I just enabled apahce & mySQL
2. I just enabled php in apache
3. Installed phpmyAdmin and copied the database over
4. Renamed the database to hyphenex_xoop1
5. Set the username to hyphenex_xoop1, and password to what it is in my mainfile.php file
6. Changed the root path and URL settings accordingly.

I still get the following error:
This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34
---

Is there a way I can get any more information on how to resolve the prpoblem, like exactly what step it is that's wrong, if it's my username and password that's wrong or just connection problems...

Any advice on how to resolve this is also apreciated.. Thanks

Never mind. A simple repair saved it... Time to back up I think

Xoops no longer loads... I get a blank page.

here's what happened. Something happend on my web spaces server computer that stopped mySQL from working properly. I went into cPanel and tried to repair the XOOPS database. Now the SQL servers have come back online again but I can still not get into them.

In PHPmyAdmin I get this error while trying to view the users:
#1016 - Can't open file: 'xoops_users.MYI'. (errno: 144)

It worked perfectly. Thanks... On the dev wiki, why did it say otherwise?

in my MyModule_index.html file I have the following code

<param name="nick" value="<{$xoopsUser.uname}>">
<param name="alternatenick" value="<{$xoopsUser.name}>">
<param name="fullname" value="Java User">
<param name="host" value="irc.freenode.net">
<param name="gui" value="pixx">

But it does not come out like that in the HTML code
The output is
<param name="nick" value="">

What am I doing wrong?
