Pinging Ping Servers

Is there already an elegant way to ping ping servers when changes are made to a XOOPS DB? I'm looking for something that is not module-specific - i.e. built into, and restricted to that module.

Or am I going to have to code something up...?

If the latter, any suggestions on functionality or things I should keep in mind when developing a new ping server pinging mod?

Cheers!

How to change the favicon in Xoops? (argh...)

Any tips on how to change the favicon displayed by Xoops?

I've done the obvious things like replacing the favicon at the XOOPS install root level, in the theme, and putting one at the root of www and root of the account... overkill really.

Yet still, no change, which defies my logic.

So any ideas? Is there a cache issue at work here, or am I just missing something?

Thanks!

I'm finding all the forums modules to have an interface that's too involved for our uses as a translation-help forum. All the spiffy info management elements for various topics and threads, and hiding old posts and the like just make things complicated and unnecessarily click-heavy for our purposes.

It seems as if all the forum/BB modules are of the same complex-interface type. I'd love a simple forum module that just lists posts LIFO with responses grouped (like this:http://forum.dict.cc/)!

Anyone interested in creating that? Thanks!

Is there any Xoops-based shopping cart module that can be recommended?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Made a Wordbook 1.15 correction - where do I post it? (also ID'd a bug I can't fix)

I've made grammatical and stylistic corrections to the English language interface to Wordbook 1.15 in main.php and modinfo.php. Where do I post those for the community?

Also, I've noted a bug in search.php. However, a totally correct implementation of the same is found in letter.php.

Unfortunately, I don't have the php skills to correct the code.

The Bug:

When letter.php returns search results, the term is given with a link to the full definition (via entry.php) and the term is followed by the category the term is in. This is the way all these other pages are supposed to work.

However... in search.php, not only is the category missing, but the entryID number of the term in the link is missing, making the first entry in the table come up for all word's links clicked.

Lastly, the SQL seems not to be able to handle large numbers of entries - I believe this is a known issue. Is there an idea of why it is a problem and where in the code the problems may be? I know some SQL gurus who may be able to solve the problem, but they are not XOOPS people, so if we could save them the headache of slogging through the code, we might get a more solicitous response.

Cheers!
