I had a similar prob to this - I tried everything, even deleating and reuploading the news module folder. In the end the thing that worked for me was to go into PHPmyadmin, look for *yourdbname*_stories, select it and click 'repair table'

Seems to work ok now. When I first checked the database the _stories entry was showing 'in use' all the time?? Repaired it and this has now gone.

Mind you, it looks like my host has recently upgraded the sql/phpmyadmin tho not sure if this had anything to do with the prob...

Hope this helps..

I tried removing and uploading a fresh copy of the news module but nothing happened. Everything else on the site works fine apart from this - weird.
Im getting some errors in the news module admin tho ....

Might have a look here and see if anything ccomes up..

EDIT:

I saw in the error messages something about an error in dbname_stories so I went into PHPmyadmin, looked for **_stories which was showing as 'in use'?? Couldnt select anything else in that string. Hit 'repair table' after selecting and it seems to have solved the prob although I still get the odd error as posted above??

Any light on these error messages??

Hi all, Is there any way I can display user avatars when users post news?

The thing Im thinking of is automatically having the users avatar display on the post in the same way as a topic image would.

Im using XOOPS 2.0.10 and news module 1.44

Thanks

jd

the white box i was referring to was the white area directly below the drop down menus. I found a few system templates that needed generating and now all seems well, thanks for your help with that.

But...

I've now come across another prob -

I use myalbum to display pics and have 'top pics' and 'recent pics' blocks displayed in the right hand column. After the 2.2.3 update ive noticed that these blocks aren't displaying thumbnailed images like they used to - just the text link to the images in question.

I've checked the myalbum template set and there are about 16 files that are highlighted in yellow and need to be generated but when i try to generate them i get 'selected file doesnt exist' highlighted in red.

I tried updating myalbum from 2.7 to 2.84 but that didn't seem to help at all. Also I deleted the files in 'cache' and 'templates_c' again no better.

Any help would be great

JD im a fool!

For some reason I didn't upload the 'themes' folder from the 2.2.3 update

All seems to work fine now although when I select 'admin index' from the 'actions' drop down I get the XOOPS page with the drop downs but nothing in the white box??

Is this right

Thanks Sq

Thanks for the quick reply jd...

I actually accessed a menu by going thru my history. the path was '...re-located.com/modules/system/admin.php' The menu looked modified from the 2.0.13 installation but i didn't see anything that resembled a drop down menu. I also got this php error:

Notice [PHP]: Use of undefined constant XOOPS_SYSTEM_USER - assumed 'XOOPS_SYSTEM_USER' in file modules/system/admin/users/xoops_version.php line 44

The strange thing is that the 'administration' link that is available when I log on as admin directs to '..re-located.com/admin

Maybe the xoops_version.php file is corrupted?

Thanks Sq

(good flash tut btw)

Hi all

Just updated my site www.re-located.com from 2.0.9.2 thru to the latest 2.2.3. I used all the upgrades in the proper order and tested the site after each step. All was well untill i went from 2.13.2 to the latest 2.2.3. When I did this step I had a few minor probs that I fixed but 1 prob still remains:

When I log on as admin and go to admin area there are no admin icons at all.

Every module seems to work and ive tried deleting admin.php from the cache as described in another thread but no joy..

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Sq
