Is there a way to control the maximum articles a module can have? Modules like Smartsection, Article and News for instance. In Smartsection the more articles you have the slower on the server (talking about 3000+ articles) I would like to hack a file by putting maximum on articles is 300 for example so in the database I will only have 300 articles. At the moment I have to go in the database and delte the hundreds of files that are outdated.

try this for all images that you insert between text in the paragraph:

<a href="http://www.yourname.com/moduls/smarsection/..."><img src="http://www.yourname.com/uploads/filename.jpg"></a>

Also you can insert this align="right" or align="left" so you can have the image aligned to your text

<a href="http://www.yourname.com/moduls/smarsection/..."><img src="http://www.yourname.com/uploads/filename.jpg align="right""></a>

I am running a sports type newspaper online and using smartsection module (latest version) along with another 2 clones of the same module. I have reached the 1000+ articles already and as said linking to access an article takes a lot of time. The server is a semi-dedicated one and is quite reliable and fast. One last thing on the home page I am also using the spotlight module from smartsection too.
Have a look at the site and tell me if you have any ideas how to make it faster.www.maltasport.com

Job Register type module?

I am working on a site and I was wandering what sort of module/s I should use for my needs, which are

Customers ordering jobs online
1) Client would register to log in
2) Once registerd clients would type in the job description they would like to order (a brochure. a website, etc) All this would look like a form with fields, boxes etc.

Now comes the tricky part
I would like the client to track down on how is his job doing. There should be a way to sent in a ticket if he wants for updates.
Finally there should be a kind of a tracking sales order when the job was started and finished, how much it costed, all dated etc.

Hope I explained properly......so what sort of module what I be able to use if there is one available?

Totally agree with JMorris we use smartsection for our sports site. maltasport

One problem though with smartsection or perhaps with all news/article modules is that when you have a lot of articles (1200 in our case), spotlight articles, etc, the database gets heavy and the query takes longer to execute. Perhaps one could advise how to optimise the database?????

This report needs to be put in such a way that we can follow it one step at a time kind of layout and placed in XOOPS FAQ, what do you think? Must admit XOOPS is slow when it is heavy with content like Articles, Smartsection etc

If you are talking about the index.php file of this module, after I did this it still gave me a blank page

Have just uploaded mxdirectory 3.01rc1 using XOOPS v 2.016 and has given me a white screen. Is there something needs to be done, permissions, renames etc for this to work?

I would go for smartsection
we used it here in malta for a sports news site with the spotlight block from smartsection with success plus used 2 more smartsection clones on the site
The only problem with smarsection module (could be with others) that they consume a lot of database enq so do not be surprised if your site will become slow and slower...

Would like very much comments on a XOOPS Brasilly based new website Maltasport.com

It is heavy on Sports News and used the following modules:

smartsection (1 + 2 clones)
extGallery
mylinks
newbb
liase
rw_banner
tplleaguestats
theme_changer
boox

I also did a lot of JAVA scripts that I must admit it is slowing down a bit the home page but my client insisted

Using XOOPS 2.0.15
php v5 amongst other things
