So, I'm looking athttps://xoops.org, and I'm looking at the Center Column. I think to myself, I want a site that looks fairly similar to this. Great! I think.

So, I play around w/ the appropriate modules. Turns out, that none of them create a block that is appropriate (or similar) to the main XOOPS page.

I think that I want them to be "news" articles, but with the full text appearing in the column, not just the headlines which appear right now.

Second part of the question:
Is there a walkthrough of setting up an example website? I'm looking at several documents on customizing a site, but nothing that is really applicable in the early "phase of the game".

Thanks for any assistance.

ok. Thanks for the site.

Now, I've been pouring over documentation, and I'm bordering between Information Overload and "GIVE ME MORE DAMMIT".

I played around w/ Zope previously, and they had a "hands-on" tutorial that really helped drive home some of the key points. Is there something like that, which would give really good information on the customization of Xoops?

Just having a hard time trying to get going after the prerequesite "playing around" with the default modules.

Hey all. I just installed XOOPS on friday, and I've been playing around w/ it for a bit. I'm just stumped with this one item.

The description for the Headlines block, is that if you click on an article, then it will take you to that article on the remote site. Well, this is not happening on either of my (freshly) installed XOOPS sites. If you click on the link, it brings you to the Headlines module (http://1.2.3.4/modules/xoopsheadline/index.php?id=3#http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/10/18/1215210)

the template for the block is:

<{foreach item=feed from=$block.feeds}>
< p ><{$feed}>< /p >
<{/foreach}>

(no real spaces in the < p > or < /p > above.

Any suggestions? Setting I missed? Bug?
