I am struggling a little with testing a XOOPS site locally on my machine, and would love to hear from anyone who has dealt with local testing.

I've installed a site athttp://localhost/~stevejones/stuff

The database connection is fine, and the permissions are all correct.

I have installed various modules without difficulty, and in my System Admin page, can see their associated XOOPS icons, complete with the mouseovers providing drop-down menus.

However, any attempt to actual perform operations, such as posting news articles, results in the page reverting to the menu for that particular module without actually performing the action.

For example, if I roll over the News icon, it provides the menu - I select "Post/Edit News". After a sec, the body of the page displays the menu previously seen in the drop-down, as if I'd clicked on the System admin "News" icon.

From there, clicking on any option just reloads that page, with no actual action taking place.

Any clues as to why this is (is it a deep problem with my Apache server or something more banal?) will be greatly appreciated.

Running the same site online is fine.

thanks a million

How to change "Home" to "home"

I've just put PHP Nuke in the bin - XOOPS rules the roost.

Anyway, I'm trying to customise XOOPS for my own community site, and in creating a completely custom theme, I want to change the labelling of various elements...

First up is "Home". There is no immediately obvious way to re-name it. All I want to do is call it "home" (lowercase) - could one of you geniuses please let me know.

Secondly, and more generally, where do I start to find the actual labels for everything? For example, when I click on my User menu item 'the library' (originally Downloads), it gives standard submenu items 'Submit Download', 'Modify Download' etc. and I'd love to rename these. Are these contained in the database or an HTML file somewhere,

Any help would of course be gladly received. I intend to upload all the sexy graphical elements and icons to this community once I've finished.

Thanks so much x raffJones
