I am still struggling with this...:

"Any developers of the news module can help me with this one? the article stops at 67142 bytes. The total article is 110373 bytes."

How could I allow XOOPS to post a long article? It should work...

I highly recommend if you are running an apache server the module modsecurity and possibly suphp. It could take some effort to set up (depending what you want to use your website for) but it prevents attacks, even attacks we may not know about yet. If you are running the server on your own box, then also chroot apache is a good idea. Of course, right permissions are very important.

Hi, I am using the latest news module and I increased the size in the preferences section because I could not post an article in its entirety. Sooo, I know this article is not that big. Why is it that the module allows only part of the article? So I have an article, I copy and paste using the news module in order to post it, and when the database is updated it says it updated ok. When I want to view the article, in the news page, it shows only part of it (a big part) but it is cut. I did this a few times and it pastes the article completely in the editor. But it shows once uploaded, part of it.

Anything I should be aware of?

Thanks.

Well I found the solution. Two files need to be edited. "style.css" and of course "theme.html". The references to "headerbanner" need to be removed on both ( I had mine already removed). The simple thing was to change the "witdh" to 100%.

Just for the record, in case it can help anybody.

Do you mean from the "theme.html" file? I did that. Or are you referring to another file? What sorrounding table code are you mentioning? I included below, the header based on the default theme. But the blank space I am talking about is not the banner per se but a blank space that is you see below, is 1011 by 100. So I remove the banner, I created a logo.gif that occupies te space of the original XOOPS logo I "stretch" the original space of the logo.gif to be bigger and then I have this problem. I have seen sites using themes based on the default theme and they don't show this problem. The logo.gif should adapt to the resolution of the monitor, like the whole page does.

<!---------------------------BeginHeader---------------------------------->

<table cellspacing="0">

<tr id="header">

<td id="headerlogo"><ahref="<{$xoops_url}>/"><imgsrc="<{$xoops_imageurl}>logo.gif" width="1011" height="100" alt="" /></a></td>

</tr>

<tr>

<td id="headerbar" colspan="7">&nbsp;</td>

</tr>

</table>

<!--------------------------EndHeader-------------------------------------->
Thanks.

hi,
I need some help...
I am having some problems displaying a correct sized logo.gif.
I have read previous posts but just modifying "theme.html" to say a size for the logo.gif of "1011x100" for example, gives an ok view for a 1024 resolution. However, a bigger monitor with a higher resolution shows a blank space on the right of the header logo and is very irritating. I always update the templates so the problem is not there.

I wonder what is the right way to create a logo.gif, copying this image to my theme folder and displaying this correctly on any resolution without a blank space. (Is that blank space occupied by the banner?) I do not want a banner just the logo.
I modified the theme.html on my clone of the default theme by eliminating the banner entry without success. Yes I am using
a clone of the XOOPS default theme. By the way, XOOPS is great!

Cheers.

Humm, thanks for your response but after trying this module it does not give me the right appearance (for now) I want to achieve (I need to spend more time playing with the different configurations)

What I did at this point is to copy the html source of /modules/news as 'index/html' to the root directory of apache and it gives me what I am looking for without the trailing '/modules/news' on the url. The caveat is that I will have to do this every time I update the news modules with another article. But it just takes a simple replacement of the 'index.html' file. Just a few more seconds of work...

Yes I have the latest XOOPS version. I am not really sure about the version of spotlight you are using but mine gives me a blank page if I activate the module and fire up the web page to "mydomain.com". In the preferences menu, I cannot choose 'spotlight' as the default module to load...

Could you tell me how it was done in your case? XOOPS version of spotlight is 1.4 right?
