I'm a little bit disappointed with the way XOOPS restrictively handles the xoops_users table. I need to add several (about 15) fields to the table to accomodate data like telephone number, birthday, address etc. but adapting the XOOPS code is proving to be very tedious. Every new field requires a code change in at least have a dozen files, including the kernel.

I miss having a central function or array listing all fields ONCE. Some kind of solution to make the xoops_users table more flexible without having to perform kernel hacks that will break with the next version upgrade.

Is this planned for the near future? Has anyone else attempted to extend the xoops_users table and how successful where you?
