On a side note to this, I was wondering if there is a hole in the Contact Us module? I've got spam on two different e-mail accounts that I've used only in this module (didn't even give the addresses to friends, let alone posted them anywhere).

Thanks,

Here's a problem I'm having that may or may not be interesting:

In an effort to make my XOOPS site fully xhtml compliant, I've run into an error I can't figure out how to fix. I can't figure out how to change the "&" to "&.amp.;" in the (relative) URLs for the blog categories. This is using the weblog module.

link to validation page

I figure I could change them directly in the database, but of course that's not a very good solution to the problem.

Also, I wasn't sure what the appropriate category for this issue should be, so I flipped a coin and placed it here.

The problem I've been having is that no php code works in the blocks. It shows up as text in the browser when you're viewing it.

That is, echoing {X_SITEURL} would just return "{X_SITEURL}", not echo (for example)"www.pieterkonink.com".

I just thought of a possible application of this for a XOOPS site that might want to have a splash page for users to log in at before they're presented with the main content. Or something like that.

<{if $xoops_isuser ==1}>

-- your theme html here --

<{else}>

-- splash html including log-in code --

<{/if}>

Haven't tried this out yet, but I guess now I have a project for the weekend.

Hi, I'm just reviving this thread because I still haven't figured it out, and it never got any responses.

To clarify, I'm having problems getting pretty much any xoops/smarty code to work in blocks. I tried including the header/footer/mainfile.php etc in it, but that doesn't want to work either it seems.

So the question is again: How do you use your XOOPS variables in a custom/wrappedhtml block? I'm sure the answer is obvious, but I just ain't seeing it.

Thanks again!

I just did a fresh install of 2.0.6 and got the whole installed-fine-then-blank-page deal.

Turned out templates_c needs to be set to 777 - not 766.

Thanks for the post that set me on the right direction!

You can find the weBlog module for XOOPS 2 here: weBlog.

This module works great and is really useful - also if you want it to show up on your top page, you just set that in the admin panel>Site Preferences>General Settings. It will let you set any module as your top page

I'm not sure I understand your second question, though.

I'd say make your site layout narrower. On my end it's way too wide. Generally sites shouldn't more than 740-ish px wide, unless you don't care about 800x600 users. Even then, it was taking up most of my screen and I'm 1280x1024. Good job coming up with your site idea!

I like the looks of your sites, expecially the Harry Potter site. There seems to be a probem with the left blocks on some of the pages, though. Good job!

Hi! I figured I post this site for some comments - it's my personal website.

It's still a little rough. Anyway, I wanted to do something a little different for my theme and came up with this idea.

I like to call it the "eyesight-destroyer" theme.

http://www.pieterkonink.com

Thanks!
