Good to see more help offer, more volunteers, etc.

Knight has volunteerd (does make sense as he started the thread). Work on it with what offer/help we have. The site can have links to other sites/services that are offered here (balance load such as forum, etc). We must try to be inclusive of other offers so that it is win/win.

I am willing to contribute financially to the yearly domain name (if we decide on a good name) and hosting fees if we settle on one in the future. Do not know much about *.my domains registration in malaysia.

Back to basic. Need to get to objectives and a team with a mision when the prototype site is ready for use.

I am still following the thread to see if things are in the green lane and to see how others are responding. As it is - resource are building up. Hosting is not a problem, domain name is not a problem, some money is not a problem ?

Need to work on OBJECTIVES and a team identity. The soft part is the hard part!!

Hosting is solved if we take darapera generosity. Let see who else come forward with hosting solution, money solution, name, etc. I am O.K. for some $$ contribution if it is within my budget <grin>. Maybe someone can give me an estimate of budget.

Again, it is creation of identity, purpose that comes first as the rest should be not a problem with the level of expertise here.

We have to be as open in conversation.

Cheers

Khabar baik!!

Hanan, It is very refreshing and encouraging to see Malaysian tapping into various CMS to explore the best tools for the job. Certainly we all can learn from each other. There seems to be now some discussion, proposal incubating over the week.

Personally I think technical issue in running a XOOPS Malaysia is not a problem as a few people here already could get it up and running in a few minutes.

Just need to get more brainstorming and perhaps a good team with clear objectives to take it forward. Have seen the rise, fall, breakup of alot of groups in the world of open source.

Keep writing here as things are evolving.

Knight, for every action there and many reactions!!
If the feeling is there we need to see if we can create an identity ( e.g PasarXoops or ? ) and to draft a mission/objective statement. I notice we believe sharing is a primary goal and a site where newbies to expert are at home.

I have not runned a site using XOOPS but have tried to play around with it before. Like the feel and functionality. Themes need more polishing.

I notice lance95 is from Melaka which is my hometown also.

Dreams overs ... back to work.

Good. As we dig out people, organisation, companies that are using XOOPS we are doing what could be one objective of Malaysia XOOPS - showing real example how Malaysian are moving into ICT. If it can be a virtual meeting place for forums, discussion, sharing of tips, distribution of MIM (Made in M )themes/modules it will attract more people including endusers, developers, programmers, designers, etc.

Maybe it can become a "Pasar Xoops" for real open and legal trading and exchanges of intellectual/knowledge properties.

Darapera, yes we can think out of the box. Did some researching to understand what is happening locally in the CMS scene. Below are 2 links. Could be more.

Lets be creative, ideas incubate and maybe a new approach that can differentiate. Hope other people can respond also to see if a "team" can emerge.

Time for sweet dreams!!

Good to be critical as some thoughts must be given to why one would put some effort into such a project. For me I see such a project as a good way to connect Malaysian who are interested in exploring XOOPS as a CMS. It will be good if some "Made in Malaysia" modules or themes can come out from people helping people in open source development effort. I am no programmer or designer but enjoy using technology for connecting people together.

Perhaps we can start sharing and refining our thoughts on objectives or vision before embarking on it.
