I have seen some one did that.

Both blocks are displaying different news article titles. The articles are specified by the web master, not ranked by number of hits or by dates. I have been playing with The three Standard blocks of News and the preference>general setting section and I have read the news FAQ, but still do not know how to do it. BTW, the two blocks they displaying are similar to the Top News block or Big News block, not the "News" default display.

How can I do it also?

I am not sure if those hits are spammers or true visitors. How many registered users did you gain from those 1000 or 10000 hits?

I am thinking differently.

I am interested linking to any website that is within my subject matter. I have done some web link exchange myself using the "custom Block" on my site. Take a look:http://creforum.net
At the bottom of the front page, I have put all web link exchange URLs and icons there. These are the web exchage sites I have visited and have submitted exchange requests with them. The process usually goes like this:

1. A visitor comes to your site.
2. Click on link exchange request.
3. Submit a link site.
4. At the end of submission the visitor receives a html or selection of html tobe included on their web site. the visitor can copy the html code.
5. The visitor insert the code into their web page.
6. The exchange originator site sends a web crawer to the visitor site to verify their codes have been implemented.
7. The visitor site is inserted to the exchange site list of links after the verification is done.
8. other than that, there might be email notifications......

I have searched on all English sites and did not find any module can provide Web link exchange setup and verification process, this should be an extention from the "Link" module.

Any new plans for it?

Can some on advise how to best set the Session Expiration parameter in the General Setting section? I have read some previous posting and still clueless.

1. How is the non-custom setting work?
2. Is there any custom setting other than the xoops_session to down load and try out?
3. Is there any documentaion about what the xoops_session do? I saw so many varieties of values like some one use the 480 vs 1000 min?
4. I checked "who is on line" section and found that if you close the browser while in a session, that login will stay up for a LONG time and I am using the value of 10. How much time will it stay up? I have not a clue.

Thank you very much.

I have decided to change my theme and the new theme has the User Name as a part, so I do not have to mess around the Custom Block.

Thanks David_L

But I wrote the whole block in html and when I change to PHP script every thing is gone. I saw in zaja-x theme there is a $xoops_uname variable in the html and thought I can use it, but no go. I also load the entire theme.html to a custom block and found out that some of the variables are resolved(example is $xoops_url) most are not. Just wonder why?

I will use Custom Block, no hacking. But that does not included your item number, shipping cost, product selection and price etc.

Thanks to every one helping me installing the I-Stat module, now its working fine.
Except I still have a question. The web server I have is in EST time Zone, I am in PST time zone. Right now, the stats are based on EST which is 3 hours apart. How can I change it to PST? I did not see a switch in the configuration that does it.

thanks.

I am not a PHP programer. Perhaps this is related to PHP programming, but I am trying to resolve it in html if I can.

The objective here is to add a user name variable in a Custom block.

In a theme.html, I saw $xoops_url and $xoops_uname being used, and when the html is executed in a Custom Block, the URL variable is resolved but the Uname is not resolved.

Please advise. Thanks.
