Hi opssrah,
when submitting an article, you have to write something in the extended text box, otherwise you will not se the read more link.
If you do not see the to comment link, you have deactivated comments in the news module preferences.
Set this to e.g. comments are always approved or however you want it on your site.

Hi sumei,

after installing apache, could you reach the default apache homepage on your server with a
simplehttp://your-server-ip/ from any client in the net?

If this in the beginning is not possible, you can get help at the Apache.org documentation Here

Your questions let me think that you're not very deep in installing and configuring software like apache, php and mysql. Is that correct?

In this case i would suggest, you deinstall all the single programms and install wamp or xampp.
You have the advantage, that the configuration needed for apache , php and MySQL to work together will be done by the install routine.
I am using xampp on my home WinXP for testing myself.

Then test the webserver at first, before you try to install xoops. If you get no response from your server in the network, you need help for your infrastructure, not your CMS
(e.g. If your Server has a dynamic IP, you have to use WINS or DHCP and use a servername instead of the IP)

If everything works fine, my advice would be to upload XOOPS to your webserver and then go to the XOOPS index page from a network client. Then you will see if you have right permissions etc. and you don't have to change anything afterwards.

great!

now i see that {$block} is an arry with 5 fields, weight one of them.
I would use this one as
eg. <{if {$block.weight} == Number}> correct?

Edit:
or would that be {$block.[5]}?

The coppermine gallery port for XOOPS is called xcgal - you find it in the module repository.

Edit: sorry - i don't know if this is correct - but xcgal is a good Photo Gallery !

is there any kind of reference for the XOOPS variables that u can use in a theme?
I am looking for the variable to use for the block weight.

Hi Don,

the problem is, that the link buttons on the site do not make use of the translation script.
So you probably have to create a set of themes / menus etc. for each language you want to support.

There is a kind of multilanguage hack, maybe this one can help you.

i will try to help you a little bit with your news website.

As i understand from your personal mail to me, you have XOOPS 2.2.3 installed an running on a web server. Is that correct?

Now - looking on the juarezpress site as an example - you will need the following modules:
- news
- multimenu
(you get them in the module repository on this site)

- install the news module
- install the multimenu module

- in the news module you have to create topics in the topic manager like local, estatal, nacional etc.
- in the multimenu module you create a module with the topic-names and the link built as:
modules/news/index.php?storytopic=Topic-ID
- then you just have to make the layout part of your site (hide blocks, set rights and design a theme resp. find a suitable free one or buy one)

Hi jharis,

Pls excuse me, but I visited your page and could not stop to laugh. No offense ment!

The reason is the "german" output of the script. not your site

For example: "Published by Don Bohrer "
is translated to: "Vorbei veröffentlicht ziehen Sie Bohrer"
I will try to translate this back to english: "gone published pull the drill"
The german special character 'ö' is shown as 'ö' as every special character on the page is a bit weird.

And believe me, i found not one correct sentence.

I think this script (esp. german) is not yet good enough to spend some time on it.
If you find another way, pls feel free to contact me for a look on the german content.
