Excellent, thanks for the fast response.

So I rename the directory, then replace every "newbb" to "forums" (or whatever) within the directory. Cool.

Before I make a start - is there an "official" way of changing module directory names in Xoops??

Hi

Is it possible to change the directory names?

e.g.
instead of www.site.com/newbb
have www.site.com/forums

instead of www.site.com/xfsection
have www.site.com/articles

etc?

I'm sure it's possible, but there are probably some settings to change first.

Thanks again!!

Sorry the answer wasn't immediately self-evident (at least to me). What is the reason for this?

I realise it's not so important now that 2.2.x has *publicly* been "UN"-recommended!

I mean, like Yahoo groups, where users receive emails, and can reply to reply to the group.

Cheers.

Is it possible for the webmaster (and if possible a second person) to be notified when a user amends their profile?

I hope to have postal address as part of the profile. I would change a Word mail merge database when user changes their profile.

Thanks in advance.

Happy to add PHP mail command somewhere (twice probably) - but would appreciate assistance in deciding where to add it

I believe this was dealt with a couple of updates ago - so make sure if you're running 2.0.x - you've updated to 2.0.13.2

(see note below re-backups!)

Thanks for the swift response. Does the same apply to 2.2.3?

Hi there, I just got this email (see below) from the guy who owns the server my site is on. Any experts care to comment? I don't pretend to understand it so reproduce it in full! Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Just to let you know that there's a bug been announced in PHPXMLRPC:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/02/20/linux_worm/
http://www.gulftech.org/?node=research&article_id=00088-07022005

The hole can be used to run arbitrary PHP code, so could be quite a security
risk. I've done a quick scan - it looks like XOOPS has its own XML RPC bundled
in it ( /home/xxxxxxxxx/public_html/xoops/xmlrpc.php ) that I assume isn't
affected. Just thought I'd give you a heads up so you can investigate if needed.

Cheers,

Well I'm using 2.2.3 and it seems to be OK (had to fix a couple of bugs but can't remember what they were now). I'm not going to upgrade to 2.2.4 as it'll probably introduce more bugs
