all you have to do is overwrite the cbb files with the old newbb2 files. then go to the module admin page and click on update.

mydownloads and wf-downloads do a very poor job of link protection because it's so easy to find the direct link to the file. i've never used pd-downloads so i'm not sure if that module is any better.

i've used .htaccess before and it has it's own problems. you can block all access to the file unless it's from your domain. the problem is that a LOT of people's firewalls blank out the referrer information and they can't download the file. if you allow blank referrers, then the file isn't really protected at all.

i would recommend using the modified mydownloads module fromhttp://products.thirdeyesoftware.com . i haven't used it yet but the way it restricts access to the file seems like the best solution so far.

i don't think you can do that with newbb2 and i'm pretty sure you can't move a single post with cbb either.

thanks for the fix bender.

i'm not trying to start up an argument, but i think that a lot more people want the quote button left where it was even if the module slows down slightly. Also, I think it's causing more of a problem than it was intended to solve.

perhaps phppp would be nice enough to put some sort of poll up about the next release

I agree with rhomal too. I would like to go further and say that module developers should ALWAYS put install instructions in the package. Even if it's the standard "upload folder to modules directory and click install in admin", it should be in there for the benefit of new users.

I definitely appreciate all the hard work of developers. But it seems that if they work hard and spend so much time developing a module, then it would make sense for them to spend another 5 minutes to make sure users know what the module does and how to use it.

i could be wrong but i think you need to go into mainfile.php and make sure the information is correct... like your username/pass for your database and also the name of the database.
