HTML-Tables always squeezed at the bottom of a page

Hi,

whenever I use HTML tables
<table>...</table>
in various modules (sections, WF-channel), my tables are always positioned at the bottom of a huge blank page, forcing me to scroll to end of that page to see my content.

I have looked in the css-file of my theme(s) but couldn't find anything to set so that the table will be positioned normally.

This does not seem to be a problem of a specific theme as I have tried several themes and it's always the same.

Could anybody please help? Thanks.

Hi,

maybe I'm just to stupid - but I can't figure out how to edit a template file.

In the templates manager I can click on either "preview" or "download" for a specific file and when I click on "preview" I can do just that: previewing. I can edit the source text but then I can only click on a submit button labeled "preview" My changes will not be propagated into the database.

So what's the meaning of the template manager at all?

Any help will be gratly appreciated.

Now my question: is it safe to change this 15 minutes to a very large number like 999999 ? So users stay logged in for a long time. Are there any risks when I do this?

This is something you have to answer for yourself. Of course there are "risks" when the session timeout is very long. If you have many users there may be a lot of still living sessions. The longer the session lasts the higher the risk that some third person may use this session for evil purposes.

As said - you have to decide how much risk you want to allow.

You can use a lot of formatting codes when typing a posting like this. These codes are more less the same as the bbcodes. A thing like "click here" with an underlying link can be set by using the url-tag of bbcode.
[url=https://xoops.org]click here[/url]

Sorry that I can't help you - but with this comment I would like to make clear, that I hope XOOPS 2.0.8+ will have this feature. That every-time-I-come-back-to-the-site-login is really annoying.

I am not sure about point 8.

A content management module does not belong to Xoops' core modules. There may be 3rd-party-modules that can do this (I myself am relatively new to Xoops), but I was a bit disappointed when I found out, that XOOPS has (in this aspect) the same lacks as PostNuke or PHPNuke.

BTW: PHPNuke is *not* something you should consider. It is not published under the GPL and the code is chaotic and full of security holes!

u wrong..for guestbook there are some such as xtremguestbook and narga guestbook,we have the superb eCal 2.24 for calendar, and XOOPS itself is very great at content management....

The point is: Why are they not official modules? Why do I have to try dozens of guestbooks, calendars, Content Management Modules?

And XOOPS is everything but not a content management system. Typo3 is a content mangagement system - all PHPNuke decendants (PostNuke, XOOPS etc.) are portal systems!

I use the shoutbox from alphalogic (shoutbox 4.0 alpha, this is not the one here from the downloads section (that maybe works with XOOPS 1, but not with XOOPS 2) but an alpha version that works with XOOPS 2+.

Still it's ugly (at least in the default theme) and you have to refresh the shoutbox yourself after posting a shout. It's unfortunately not, what a real shoutbox should look like.

After changing my attitude from PostNuke to Xoops, and first being very enthusiastic about Xoops, I painfully found out, that XOOPS - concerning offical modules - has the same problems or drawbacks as PostNuke: The lack of professional official modules (guestbook, calendar, content management, shoutbox).
