Re: Config Front Page as http://www.mywebsite.com/smartsection-item.itemid-1.htm

Thank you very much, ghia!

I use the "block" method but it will display a list of articles, which I do not want it to be seen.

For the rewrite rule, can you tell me how to set the RewriteRule to have this effect?

Thank you very much.

Config Front Page as http://www.mywebsite.com/smartsection-item.itemid-1.htm

My website uses XOOPS 2.3.2a and SmartSection 2.14. Besides, it also use Simplified_URL 1.51 to rewrite URL as "http://www.mywebsite.com/smartsection-item.itemid-?.htm".

I would like to set the front page of visiting "http://www.mywebsite.com" as "http://www.mywebsite.com/smartsection-item.itemid-1.htm", instead of setting startup module as "SmartSection". By setting "SmartSection" as startup module, only category list is shown (I do not want viewer has the right to read the category/article list).

How can I config "http://www.mywebsite.com/smartsection-item.itemid-1.htm" as the front page?

My server config:

XOOPS Version - XOOPS 2.3.2a
PHP Version - 5.2.2
MySQL Version - 5.0.24a-log
Server API Version - cgi
OS Version - FreeBSD

Thanks a lot!

Commercial websites using xoops now

I am searching for practice use of XOOPS on commercial websites. Would anyone suggest some? Do commercial sites usually install XOOPS core system only and tailor-made their own modules, but not using available ones?

By the way, is there any website give details of the procedures on implementing XOOPS on a web hosting company, instead of using "localhost"?

Thank you for all your help!

Re: XOOPS 2.3 & 3.0 - Best multilanguage module

Thanks all!

EMLH is much easier and compatible with UTF-8.

I have installed xlanguage but lots of errors are resulted. It seems that its default coding is GB2312 for Simplified Chinese and BIG-5 for Traditional Chinese. For UTF-8, many errors are resulted. Maybe there are many modifications needed in order to get it work for UTF-8. So I quit and change to use EMLH.

I also suggest that XOOPS, as international CMS, should have multilanguage feature built in its core.

Thanks a lot!

Re: XOOPS 2.3 & 3.0 - Best multilanguage module

Thank you for your suggestion. Is it work with UTF-8 unicode since the website uses unicode as its base coding?

Thanks.

XOOPS 2.3 & 3.0 - Best multilanguage module

I am planning to create a website using XOOPS 2.3 Final (hopefully it would be upgraded to XOOPS 3.0 in the future). The website will be available for 3 kinds of languages: English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The URL may look like:
http://www.ABCDXXXnet.com/index.php?en-US (English)
http://www.ABCDXXXnet.com/index.php?zh-CN (Simplified Chinese) and
http://www.ABCDXXXnet.com/index.php?zh-TW (Traditional Chinese).

Since there are many modules for creating multi-language XOOPS website and some are even incompatible with XOOPS 2.3 and later XOOPS 3.0, would anyone suggest the best/most appropriate module for my purpose? I decide not to use either XOOPS 2.0.18.X or 2.2.X.

Thank you all for your help!

Books for learning XOOPS 2.3 and 3.0

Will there be any books on development and usage of XOOPS 2.3 and XOOPS 3.0 to be published? By Packt, Wrox, or other publishers?

Thanks all!
