Emails Blocks

In the preferences/user info settings, option: Enter emails that should not be used in user profile. Could this setting be used to block known spammer emails? For instance, some forums only allow "real" email addresses and the free accounts are not allowed (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc). Has anyone tried this method to keep spammers out or is this not worth doing?

Thanks.

In XOOPS 2.0.16, there are a few fields I'd like to disable OR disable the use of adding an URL to the field. For instance, I do not wish to promote spammer's websites by allowing members to post their URL within their profiles. Other than editing the templates to remove the URL, Extra info, Signature and Bio fields, is there a way to disallow the showing of URLs in a profile? If their weren't so many spammers, I wouldn't mind but wouldn't these urls will show up in posts otherwise? Probably a waste of effort as spammers appear no matter what, yes?

Hello all,

I've been searching but don't really understand the difference between Wordpress ME and the XPress module. I do see there is a difference with Wordpress ME and taking the post to a forum (?) but I don't understand what that means. Does it somehow integrate with CBB or is there another meaning?

Regarding XPress module. Is there a way to rename the directory to "blog" or rewrite the url to domain.com/blog/name-of-post ? All my attempts have failed. Must I have "modules/wordpress" in the URL?

Thanks,

C

Thank you JMorris for that detailed explanation! Very helpful! I just upgraded this morning to the most recent Protector and have already employed the other methods you suggest so it looks like I'm doing about as much as possible. Thank you again.

Wouldn't Protector module prevent the upload of files like this to the upload directory? I was kind of counting on that...

I got the following entry in my access log. The host is not helpful at all! Would someone please tell me if this kind of entry is an attempt to hack somehow? Notice the IP address 127.0.0.1 - and there is no foo.jpg in my images folder.

127.0.0.1 - - [01/May/2007:02:00:00 -0500] "GET /images/foo.jpg HTTP/1.0" 200 6429 "http://www.foo.com/" "Mozilla/4.03 [en] (Win95; I ;Nav)"

What should I do?

EDITED TO ADD:

I notice this in my Protector settings for the default "Reliable IPs": ^192.168.|127.0.0.1

I do not test from home computer, should both those IPs be included? I'm not sure what they are there for, would someone please explain?

Thanks,

Cuidiu

Thank you jdseymour. I do use Protector on that site but not the latest version.

But 2.2.4 frameworks does not include captcha so I guess I'm back to where I started.

Why is it that no one responds to my question about my form being submitted with almost all required fields blank. Does no one think this is an important issue? Will someone please tell me how this could happen?
