Thank you all for the theme convertion reply. I initially thought a convertion will be easier than creating a new theme. But I guess I am wrong. I will take a closer look and decide what I really need to do. Thanks again.

OP, Sorry that I use this thread to ask some Off the Topic question...

Thanks David. I will try that.

I like some of the templates here in this site:

http://www.en.templates-world.com/

I just wondering how hard to convert them and how much it might cost to have someone else to convert it?

Any help is appreciated.

Lance,

Do you happen to know how much is a fair price to convert a theme? And where can I find a theme converter? thx.

Thanks.

Thanks Tim. If not too much trouble, can you also ask them about their mod_rewrite? I don't want to do the shortURl hack for the whole site, but I am really interested in doing it for this module. thx.

Tim,

Did you do an upgrade from xdirectory to mxdirectory? Any issue during upgrade?

Are you using shortURL hack for your xdirecory? Can you share how you did it? Thanks.

Steven

Thanks Hervet!! It is a greate guide. I only need to do a few mapping for the long URLs, so I just want to manully add the rewrtie in .htaccess to create a few short URL like:

link1.htmlhttp://www.mysite.com/modules/guide/singlelink.php?cid=231&lid=1115 [L}

So when I type link1.html t will take me to the long URL.

The rewrtie mapping is working, but I think XOOPS is complaining about not having the module names or somthing.

I afraid that this simple approach won't work :(

Thank you for your constant support !!

Hello,

I try to manually match some long url using RewriteRule, but I got some errors. I have tested my server using a simple rewite and it works ( as long as I don't use the any modules), so I think there is something wrong on my XOOPS side.

Here is what I added in the .htaccess file:

RewriteEngine on

RewriteRule ^guide/$ /modules/guide/ [L]

And here is the error I got:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/virtual/site19/fst/var/www/html/header.php on line 100
Notice [PHP]: Undefined offset: 2 in file include/common.php line 226

line 100 in my header.php is this:
Quote:
$xoopsTpl->assign('xoops_pagetitle', $xoopsModule->getVar('name'));

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply! I have been away for a few days, so sorry for the late reply.

Yes, originally I plan to change the code itself if needed. But that will prevent any future updates and too much hassle down the road. So I might just leave it alone until I can find some other solutions :)

Thanks.

Hello,

I want to change some of the module names to something more meaningful to my site in stead of standard name. Here is my approch:

1. Find all the instances of the module name (directory name) in all the files. Change them to a new name: "new_module" and also change the directory name to "new_module"

2. If I need an second instance of the same module, I might need to check the table name. Otherwise I am done

Is this right? Any other thing I need to check ?

Thanks a lot

Thanks Tripmon!! That would be nice, but I can live without that. Actually, I am using xdirectory on my ste, so your mx-derectory is much better already. thx.

Thanks kumzzy for your help also. I know it will take a while, but I am looking forward for efqdirectory also.

It is so nice to have so many XOOPS developer working on these modules :)
