No :)

at least not in this case..if your computer is say with default lang fr and we remove the fr.js from editors then the fr users won't have any buttons in there wysiwyg editors which basically means that from your end the editor will work fine, but for non-english default users it won't.

Since editors are really 3rd party included in the core this needs a special/different attention, edtiors should check if user lang is missing then replace with default/english, but as they are 3rd party of course their devs want for their work to be international accessible right out of the box so i hardly doubt they'll change the way the langs functions as they will always include all languages in their package

I don't know about protector and lib directory, but if your computer's OS is in other then english and you want to use any editor, editors will fail and you'll most likely get some errors which are caused by the missing langs, that will mean that is up to each user to upload their own language...do you think newbies will manage that?

Wise choice

Tables are not/should not be used to make a page layout, they should serve only the purpose of presenting data!

SEO friendlier? NO...

Faster? NO...

Both questions/answers depend on what you actually display in your tables, divs, p's and whatnot, also both depend on lots of other factors starting with server and ending on user end's screen: connection, browser, browser capabilities. But i won't go further into that :)

LOL i think the only way you could've been more ambiguous would've been to say "from the web"

Theme on x.org can be found in theme gallery, news items, forums

if by any chance you mean THIS theme then it should work on your version of xoops, however being a 4years old or so, theme is bound to become deprecated at one point and themes that are over 1-2 years old are not supported anymore for many reasons including functionality or deprecated methods used in their source

The way i do it makes no difference in procedures from making a regular theme and before people will jump and say is not true...

If your target is iPhone/iPod touch is best to make sure you're using the latest stuff when it comes to html and css which will mean html 5 which can be tricky sometime but if you take your time there shouldn't be any problem.
Also is best to take full advantage of what the iPhone can do when it comes to webapps so a different more edge design and features should be achieved in this theme and keep in mind that you must not use flash as it won't show up..unless things will change after January the 27.
As far as coding the XOOPS stuff goes, is exactly the same, using same smarty constants you'd use in a regular theme.
Start from as simple framework as you can and keep in mind that whereas the width of a static theme is usually around 900-1000px when viewed on the computer, the iPhone revolves around 400px so CS or whatever production app you use for design, must be created with that width in mind.
If you code on a mac is best to use the dashcode app which comes with the OS, if on windows you got me there as i don't know what to suggest
With that being said, am in the middle of making a XOOPS admin dedicated for iPhone, also a version of my themes site will also soon be launched on that mobile device.

If by "mobile site" u didn't meant iPhone/iPod touch browsing then most of the above will be useless tips for you

And the answer will be... HERE ;)

display: none...will not work as the background of the anchors are in css which does exactly that...makes the links&images dissapear.
For the DIY... edit theme.html and remove the links, then edit style.css removing the a from the div id.

There were about 3different ways to do it and none of the previous suggestion were correct

Sorry i haven't answered earlier but my main computer is in service for about a week
