In wf-Channel 2.0 on the Create page regarding the Page Headline field, it says the following:

Quote:

Page Headline*
This will be displayed on the actual page. Leave blank to not show a page headline

It is, however, a required field and cannot be left blank, so you have to have the Page Headline whether you want it or not. I assume that this will be fixed in the next release. Until then, how can I set this as not required?

There are 2 things to backup:
1. your database
2. the files on your server

1. Database backup
------------------
You can backup your database by using phpMyAdmin. Normally it creates one big file which is too big for phpMyAdmin to restore. The script BigDump is helpfull in this case.
Other options are the XOOPS modules BackPack and DB Backup & Restore.
Both modules have BigDump integrated and are also able to backup the database tables seperately.

Anybody know if Backup and Restore 3.0 is safe to use with XOOPS 2.0.17.1 or if there is a later version?

guys. Clone Block Easily - Great Tut by MadFish.

First of all, thanks for the reminder. That's a great tutorial.

Quote:

All a cloned block is, is a modified xoops_version.php and modinfo.php. As soon as these files are overwritten your block disappears.

I don't see why you would need this built into XOOPS when all you have to do is copy/paste a few lines of code.

There are several reasons:

1. The one you mentioned above. Extra steps on upgrade to see that your blocks are not overwritten. That's enough by itself, but there are others.

2. It may be fairly easy to do, but it's time consuming and an extra step every time we want to clone a block. As site administrators, do we really need extra steps and extra stuff to keep up with? I know I don't.

3. I would wager that 90% of Xoopsers are not going to want to tinker with the code this way. Do we really want XOOPS to be only for techies?

IMHO, it should be in the core as it was with 2.2. To not have it would be to take a giant step backwards, and that's not what XOOPS is about.

Thanks and regards,

Hi again

I just tested it(blocksadmin) on 2.0.17 and it works.

Do you add in xoops_version.php for the block you want to clone:

$modversion['blocks'][X]['can_clone'] = true ;//Clone Block

where X is the block number?

Apparently Altsys 0.55a now includes myblocksadmin. That's what I had tried. What version were you using that worked?

Quick work! Thanks. Much appreciated. And no, I don't think I did. Must have missed it. I'll try again later and post the result.

Here's a thought, though: Will blocks cloned this way still be viable if and when we upgrade to a version of XOOPS which has clonability built in?

How about cloneable blocks?

Hi,

GiJoe blocksadmin module gives you clone for blocks (at least in XOOPS 2.0.13)

I've tried that and SmartBlocks, too, and can't get either of them to work. I wonder if anyone is using it successfully on 2.0.17? If so, then I will try again.

How about cloneable blocks? I still cry every time I think about having to leave this feature behind to go from 2.2.5 to 2.0.17. If you were here you could hear me sobbing (I passed sniffling long ago).

I really don't understand why everyone is not begging for this. It makes XOOPS and all modules so much more flexible and greatly reduces the need to clone any individual module.

And, if not in 2.0.18, then can someone say when it might be included?

The module XoopsTube allows you to show YouTube and MetaCafe videos on your site. XoopsTube is a hacked version by McDonald of the fine WF-Links module by Catzwolf. Here is a discussion of the development. I've shortened the link so as to not break the forum:

This is just a super module, and I want to thank both McDonald and Catzwolf for the fine work that made it possible.

According to submitexpress.com, my site is supplying the following to search engines as the site description:

Quote:
XOOPS is a dynamic Object Oriented based open source portal script written in PHP.

Naturally I do not want this. Where is it so that I can change it?

Same question for meta keywords? Where are they?

Thanks,
Jere
